Four teenagers taken to hospital from crash
MIDDLEBURY — Four teenagers were taken to the hospital following an accident Wednesday morning, Feb. 13, in northeast Elkhart County.
The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department and the Middlebury Police Department responded to C.R. 43, just south of S.R. 120, around 8:45 a.m., where a tan passenger car hit a tree.
Malinda Mast, the owner of the property where the accident happened, said she was inside her house and heard screeching from the tires and a loud sound from crash.
Deputies from the sheriff’s department who were on the scene said they were still investigating the accident to get a better idea of what happened.
The car, which was going south on C.R. 43, spun around, the trunk receiving most of the impact. The rear right tire of the car seemed to have been pushed into the back seat from the force of the collision.
Mast said by the time she went out of the house the four people inside the car had already gotten themselves out. The four were taken by ambulance to Elkhart General Hospital, said an officer from the Middlebury Police Department.
