Police searching for suspects in two Thursday night robberies in Elkhart

ELKHART — Elkhart Police are searching for suspects from two separate robberies that occurred within an hour of each other.

Police were dispatched to the Hampton Inn, 215 North Pointe Boulevard, at 11:15 p.m. Thursday in response to a robbery. Witnesses said that two men entered and demanded money, one of which showed a weapon. They left with an undisclosed amount of cash. One suspect was described as a white male between 18 and 30, 5’7” to 5’9” tall, weighing about 145 to 160 pounds and wearing a dark colored winter coat with a hood. The second suspect was described as a white male between 18 and 30, 5’8” to 5’10” tall weighing about 155 to 170 pounds.

At 11:39 p.m., officers were dispatched to Yoder Truck Stop, 1125 Kent St., in reference to a robbery. Three men entered the business and demanded money. One man displayed a weapon and the three left with an undisclosed about of cash, tobacco products and electronic equipment.

The men are described as one Hispanic male, between 5’7” to 5”10 tall with a medium build and two white males between 5’9” and 6’ with medium builds. All three men were described as wearing all black.

Detectives are investigating to see if the two robberies are related.
