Police arrested a total of 44 people who were under the age of 21 for illegal consumption of an alcoholic beverage last week around the Thanksgiving holiday in Elkhart County.

On Nov. 21, police arrested 11 teenagers who were riding a limousine, drinking alcohol and exposing themselves just before midnight north of Goshen.

Elkhart County 911 Center received a call from a passerby saying there was “a limousine full of teenagers” at the corner of S.R. 15 and U.S. 20. The caller said the teenagers were exposing themselves and appeared to be drinking alcohol. The vehicle was stopped on S.R. 15 just north of Goshen, and officers from the Sheriff’s Teenage Alcohol Reduction team found 11 occupants who were all under the age of 21, six of them being under the age of 18.

The teenagers were released to their parents and cited to court for illegal consumption of an alcoholic beverage.

At 11:28 p.m. Friday, police responded to a loud party at 56974 Ash Road in Osceola Township. Officers obtained a search warrant for the residence and found 27 people between the ages of 18 and 20, and six under the age of 18. Three adults in the residence were cited for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. Those who were underage were released to their parents and were cited to court.

One of the people arrested, a 19-year-old woman, was booked at the Elkhart County Jail for having been arrested before on the same offense. Rex Hickman, 21, was also arrested and booked at the Elkhart County Jail for resisting law enforcement and battery on a police officer. He also had a warrant for his arrest in Marshall County.
