EDWARDSBURG, Mich. — An Edwardsburg man was listed in critical condition today in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind., after he was shot at a home on Five Points Road in Mason Township, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of a person having been shot in the 70000 block of Five Points Road at 12:05 p.m. today.

Officers found that Trevor Clair, 44, of Edwardsburg, had been shot during a fight with another man at a garage on the property. Both men were visiting the homeowner at the time, police said.

Paramedics from Osolo Township EMS, Elkhart, Ind., helped Porter Township emergency workers transport the victim to Memorial Hospital.

Deputies arrested a man at the scene who witnesses said shot Clair.

He was taken to the Cass County Jail, where he remains in custody. His name will be released after arraignment in Cass County 4th District Court, which is scheduled for Monday.

The Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg Police Department and Michigan State Police assisted county deputies at the scene, noted Capt. Lyndon Parrish of the sheriff’s office.

A nursing supervisor at Memorial Hospital said that Clair is not listed as a patient there.
