A recreational vehicle and manufacturing housing supplier will soon move into a new facility in Goshen after outgrowing its building in Elkhart.

Dave Carter & Associates Inc., which distributes electrical and plumbing products to the RV industry, along with building products such as doors and trim to manufactured housing makers, needs more room than the 85,000 square feet at its current facility at 1136 Verdant Dr., off of C.R. 17, said general manager Doug Wilson. By the end of September, the Ocala, Fla.-based company will move to a newly built 180,000-square-foot facility on Century Drive.

After 17 years at the Elkhart site, Wilson said there was no room for expansion there because it’s landlocked, and the move will place the firm closer to more of its customers in Goshen.

"This allows us the opportunity to grow as the market grows," Wilson said. "We can take on new product lines and explore new things as we have more room."

They now employ 48 people in Elkhart and plan to add 25 new jobs over the next three years, under terms of the a seven-year tax phase-in agreement granted by the city of Goshen.

The company had hoped to have the building finished by January 2014, but construction has been delayed by the harsh winter and other factors that Wilson declined to detail.
