Wholesale recreational vehicle shipments in April rose 5.4 percent from that month a year ago, making it the best April in seven years, an industry group announced Wednesday, May 28.

"After a hectic winter where severe weather constrained some deliveries, it appears a semblance of normalcy has returned to the RV market," Bill Baker, spokesman for the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association, said in a statement.

Towable RV shipments grew by 5 percent while motorhome shipments moved up 8.3 percent from totals a year earlier.

Shipments to retailers for all RVs were reported at 123,745 units for the first four months this year, an 11-percent gain over the same period last year, and the best start for shipments since 2007.
