March RV shipments increase over last year

The increase marks the highest level of shipments in March since 2007. Percentage gains were particularly good in the motorhome segment.

Wholesale recreational vehicle shipments were up 16.4 percent in March over the same month last year – the highest March level since 2007, the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association announced.

The 33,678 units shipped brought the first-quarter year-to-date total to 89,971, up 13.3 percent from last year's first quarter.

March motorhome shipments grew even more than total RVs, rising 33.5 percent to 4,120 units.

March towable RVs were reported at 29,558, up 14.4 percent over March 2013. Year to date, towable RVs were up 11.2 percent to 78,846 units. All motorhome shipments for the quarter gained 30.9 percent over last year, rising to 11,215 units.
