Dining A La King is hitting the road again.

Edgerton's Travel Service, along with The Elkhart Truth and Flavor574, has put together a three-day trip to upper Michigan for Oct. 19-21.

The "foodie tour" will leave Elkhart on that Sunday and stop at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids, Mich., before going farther north to Brewery Terra Firma. Supper will be at Right Brain Brewery.

On Monday, Oct. 20, the group will head to The Village at Grand Traverse, a former mental asylum, for tastings at Left Foot Charley, an urban winery, and Higher Grounds Trading Co., a fair trade and organic coffee roaster. Lunch will be at Old Mission Tavern and then there will be visits to Old Mission Lighthouse and the Lake Michigan shoreline. There will be a tasting at Chateau Chantal, the oldest and largest winery on Old Mission Peninsula, and dinner will be at Mission Table.

On Tuesday, Oct. 21, the the group will tour Perry Hannah House, the mansion of Traverse City's founder, before heading back to Indiana. There will be a lunch and shopping stop in Saugatuck.

The trip includes round-trip motor coach trail, two nights hotel, five meals, baggage handling, all tours and tastings and a basic travel protection plan. Edgerton's will send along a tour manager and I'll be the host.

The cost is $649 to $899 per person depending on how many are in a room. Double occupancy is $729 per person and single occupancy is $899. Three or four people in a room is $679 and $649 per person, respectively.

A $100 deposit holds your space. Reservations can be made by going to www.edgertonstravel.com/grouptravel or by calling 574-294-3651.

I was in this part of Michigan over Labor Day last year. It's beautiful and has a lot to offer in terms of tastes. I'm excited for the chance to go back and taste more.

Readers have said they want to go on one of these trips, but want to go a different time of year than February. Here's your chance to come along and have some fun. About 50 spots are available.
