Quick Bite: Valentine's Day dining will be crowded

The big holiday is less than two weeks away and falls on a weekend. Get ready.

If you're hoping to eat out on Valentine's Day, I'd start planning.

This year the big day is on a Friday. That means that loving couples will head out to eat on Feb. 14 and the following day.

It'll be a big weekend for restaurants. And there are only so many tables.

I've talked to several restaurant owners this week who report that January has been slow for them, though several said they've gotten a bump after the bitter cold passed and people were anxious to get out of the house.

And readers have already asked for recommendations.

I'd find a place you like, a place that has some meaning for you. Or if you're feeling adventurous, try a new spot. But whatever you do, try not to wait until the night of the big date to get a table. Restaurants will be crowded.

And if you want to avoid the dining crowd, you could always buy chocolates from one of Goshen's fine chocolate shops. The Nut Shoppe and Olympia Candy Kitchen are on Main Street and The Chocolate Factory is in the Old Bag Factory.
