ELKHART — A new upscale restaurant will be opening soon in downtown Elkhart.

The restaurant will be tentatively called Artisan and will be located at 507 S. Main St., formerly home of the Flytrap restaurant.

Owner and operator Kurt Janowsky said he's excited to be part of the SoMa movement.

Janowsky's restaurant represents the second announced plan for a new restaurant on South Main Street. The other will occupy the old Mad Anthony's restaurant in the same block.

Janowsky operates the Crystal Ballroom at the Lerner Theatre and owns a catering service in Elkhart as well as a restaurant and bar in South Bend.

Janowsky’s announcement came during a news conference hosted by representatives of SoMa, at the Lerner Friday morning.

Food is prepared at a past beer dinner hosted by LaSalle Kitchen and Tavern.
