GOSHEN — A night of music and dancing returns to the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds Friday, July 25, during Latino Bands Night.
The event will be held at the Heritage Park Stage between 6 and 10 p.m.
This year’s program will include a performance by Tierra Viva Mexican Folkloric Dance Group. Three Norteño music bands, Afirmativo H, Jerry Alonso and Conjunto Decada, will be playing Friday night afterward.
This is the eighth year a Latino Night has been scheduled on the second Friday of the fair.
Ignacio Zepeda, president and general manager of I.B. Communications, said although the format for Friday’s Latino Bands Night format is similar to the ones years past, each year sees more people. It’s an event that keeps growing in its popularity.
“We’ve also noticed a growing interest in investing on the fair as sponsors, rather than just having a growing number of people attending.”
I.B. Communications, a company that owns WKAM 1460 AM of Goshen, is one of the major sponsors of the event Friday. Zepeda, who helps organize the event, said in the future he would like to bring other activities that further represent the Latino community in this area.
"As a media company that helps represent Latinos, it’s very important for us to be involved in one of the community’s most important events of the year,” he said. “We hope to continue working with the community. We’re open to participate or share activities in events throughout the county.”
