Second Senior Citizens Day, talent contests highlight fifth day of Elkhart County 4-H Fair

The fifth day at the Elkhart County 4-H Fair continues with sunny skies and higher temperatures.

Tuesday marks the second Senior Citizens Day at the fair, and plenty of talent contests underscore the theme.

If you plan on making a day of visiting the fair, here are some things you should know.

Tuesday marks the second Senior Citizens Day at the Elkhart County 4-H Fair this week. Attendees who are 62 and older can enjoy free admission until 3 p.m. Holding with the theme, there will be a Senior Citizens Talent Contest, Senior Citizens Cookie Baking Contest judging and more throughout the afternoon.

There will also be plenty of activities for the kids, including the “Thank a Farmer” Magic Show at 5 p.m. and the Youth Talent Contest at 6 p.m.

You can also catch some live music at 8 p.m. as Danielle Bradbery takes the stage at the grandstand with special guest The Swon Brothers. Reserved track seats are $30.


The 4-H Dairy judging kicks off at 8:30 a.m. in the Beef/Dairy arena.

If you have a green thumb, there are plenty of gardening and cultivation demonstrations throughout the day, including a Master Gardener Talk about growing houseplants at 1 p.m. and a Master Gardener Talk about rose gardening to follow at 4 p.m.

At 9 p.m., the 4-H Dog Showmanship event takes the spotlight in the 4-H Cat and Dog Building.
