Disability Awareness Day and animal contests mark the fourth day of the Elkhart County 4-H Fair

The fourth day of the Elkhart County 4-H Fair kicks off with warmer weather and more sunny skies. 

Monday means Disability Awareness Day and a whole lot of animal judging contests. 

If you plan to attend today, here are some of the activities going on that you may want to catch.


Goshen is expected to see mostly sunny skies and temperatures reaching the upper 80s by mid-afternoon, according to the National Weather Service

As the evening arrives, the temperature will drop into the low 80s, according to Accuweather.com.


Monday marks the fifth annual Disability Awareness Day at the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds. The event, which is for individuals who are living with physical and intellectual disabilities, runs from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and will feature carnival rides, Special Olympics skill events and a magician.

Harness racing will kick off at 11 a.m. at the Grandstand. The event is free and will also continue Tuesday.

In the mood for some live music? Country music star Tyler Farr and special guest Parmalee will perform at 8 p.m. Grandstand seating is free on a first come, first serve basis. Reserved track seats are $30.


Judging for the “Dairy Delicious” contest begins at noon in the Home & Family Arts Building. According to last year’s regulations, entries must contain at least two dairy products and be a minimum of six servings.

Several animal judging contests are happening throughout the day. Goat judging rings in the day at 8 a.m. in the Sheep/Swine Area. Llama Showmanship Judging takes place at 9 a.m. in the Beef/Dairy Arena, followed by the 4-H Beef Showmanship Heifer & Steer Judging at 2:30 p.m. 

The 4-H Rabbit Showmanship contest runs from 3 to 7 p.m. at 4-H Rabbit Barn. The 4-H Cat Show will pounce onto the scene at 6 p.m.
