GOSHEN — The Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds recently installed new facilities to make life easier for visitors with a physical handicap.

There are two new restrooms on the fairgrounds in Goshen — one by Commercial Building F and one by Gate G. That means less walking if you're near the Park Stage or the small animal barns, too. All restrooms on the fairgrounds are supposed to be handicapped-accessible.

Railings were installed at the grandstands this year for people climbing to higher rows. Ramps leading to the lower rows should be helpful for people using wheelchairs or walkers.

Most of the fairgrounds is reachable by paved paths, but there are some areas of the midway that are not paved. Those might be harder to navigate.

Finally, if you are handicapped or are driving with a handicapped passenger, there's a parking lot for you set just next to the main fairgrounds entrance. Enter the parking lot through Gate 2 from the road and you can go into the fairgrounds at Gates A or E. Just remember to bring your handicap hang tag for your car's rear view mirror.
