5 questions with The Voice winner Danielle Bradbery

Country singer Danielle Bradbery, who won NBC’s The Voice in 2013, will be performing at The Elkhart County 4-H Fair.

Posted on July 11, 2014 at 7:09 a.m.

Seventeen-year-old country singer Danielle Bradbery found sudden fame when she won season four of NBC’s The Voice in 2013.

Next week, Bradbery will be one of the county stars taking the stage at The Elkhart County 4-H Fair.

Bradbery performs on Tuesday, July 22, along with fellow The Voice contestants The Swon Brothers

The singer recently spoke with The Elkhart Truth as she was on her way to Nebraska on a summer tour of fairs and festivals.

What do you like about performing at a fair versus other venues?

"I love that it’s summer, and the fans are in their 'ready to have fun' kind of mood. I feel like if you are at a fair or festival, you have to get the fair food. It’s all amazing. I try to do that as much as I can. I just love hanging out and seeing what’s going on."

What’s life been like since The Voice?

"It’s been a huge change. So much has happened between now and then — my first tour was with Brad Paisley and then with Hunter Hayes, and I’ve learned a lot."

What has surprised you about life as a country music celebrity?

"It’s just really cool to see how normal these artists are, seeing behind the scenes, it’s really cool to see that kind of view. The dedication that the fans have is pretty awesome, seeing how pumped up they get during the shows. We feed off (the fans’) energy, so as much energy as they have, we will give it right back."

What songs will fans hear from you at the fair, and what is your favorite to perform?

"I’ll be singing all of my music on my album that’s out now, and I’ll throw in some covers of songs by my favorite artists. There will be a lot, and I’m really excited about these sets we've worked up.  I love performing Never Like This; I love the meaning of that song and I feel like it’s me telling my fans how I felt coming out of The Voice. It kind of gives another part of my story."

How can fans keep up what you’re doing?

”(Social media) is a big part of how I talk with my fans and let them know what’s going on with me. It’s pretty cool. We will post on social media about times to meet with fans (after shows).“

Bradbery performs at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 22. Reserved track seats are $30. Contact the fair office for more information and for tickets, 533-3247.
