Arm wrestling is back at the Elkhart County 4-H Fair.
The one-day event usually draws about 40 competitors, but it was canceled last year because of issues with insurance and liability, according to organizer Jennifer Prough.
Those problems are fixed for this year, so participants can count on some friendly competition.
The contest is for adults 18 and older and it’s double-elimination style, meaning you can lose once and still be in the game, Prough explained.
She estimates about half of the people who enter the contest are looking for casual fun, while others are serious arm wrestlers.
“I think a lot of (participants) want a place to compete that’s not the Strongman competition, because they have a lot of upper body strength,” Prough said. “A lot of them have expressed to me that people think of arm wrestling as a bar thing, but it’s not. It’s a thing that’s out there as a sport that people like to do.”
The arm wrestling competition will be from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at the activities pad on the fairgrounds. Registration starts at 11:30 a.m.
