Indiana's head of public education Glenda Ritz is coming to the Elkhart County 4-H Fair.

According to the fair board, Ritz will be parade marshal, leading the fair's parade through downtown Goshen to the fairgrounds on Sunday, July 20.

She was chosen because she lives the fair's 2014 theme of "All In," said Tim Yoder, fair board president.

Ritz's presence will also mark the first "education day" for the fair.

Students and school employees will be admitted to the fair for free on Friday, July 18. Local schools — including private schools — colleges and universities, have the opportunity to market themselves with displays at the fair, and school groups will be performing.

This new event was organized by fair board members Dan Cunningham, Concord High School’s principal, and Chad Stamm, Concord Intermediate School’s principal.
