Village Bazaar Value Stores has pushed back the grand opening of its new Elkhart store from Wednesday, July 16, to 9 a.m. Monday, July 21.

Owner Rob Horn attributed the delay to his contractors running behind. Because the store was vacant for three years, water damaged the store’s back wall, so the drywall must be replaced, Horn said.

"We’re very anxious to engage the community,“ Horn said.

The store will be Horn’s second. He opened the first on Grape Road in Mishawaka in 2009. The store features a wide variety of merchandise that has been overstocked or returned to retailers, discounted up to 50 percent from retail prices, Horn has said.

It will be housed in the former Goodwill store in North Pointe shopping plaza, near the traffic circle.
