The Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce has achieved a four-star accreditation rating from its national counterpart for a second time, the group announced Thursday, June 19.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce maintains an accreditation program to recognize local chambers for outstanding contributions in fostering a pro-business environment. Government affairs work, strategic planning, internal policies and media relations are among the topics reviewed.
“This shows our members and the community that we’re operating by the highest standards,” Kyle Hannon, Greater Elkhart Chamber president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. “It’s important to note outside groups like the U.S. Chamber also think we’re doing a good job for our members and our region.”
The Elkhart Chamber represents and serves about 1,000 member businesses and organizations, as well as the community at large, by promoting shared interests in the areas of business, government, education and the professions. The Chamber staff does this through direction and leadership of investor companies listed at Elkhart.org.
Elkhart is just one of four chambers in the state of Indiana to have received accreditation status from the U.S. Chamber. More than 7,000 chambers across the country are eligible to participate in the program.
The four-star ranking is valid for five years, at such time the chamber must reapply for accreditation review.
