ELKHART — When Monaco RV closed its doors Feb. 10, they did it suddenly and without warning.
The move not only shocked the suddenly jobless men and women who showed up for work that morning. It also left a 200,000-square-foot facility at 2700 S. Nappanee St. full of materials.
Hahn Auctioneers Inc. will be selling off everything in the plant at a public auction beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday, March 25.
Available are three completed RVs, several partially finished vehicles and a list of supplies including everything from flat-screen TVs to nuts and bolts.
Phil Hahn said it's not unusual for his company to auction off the remnants of a shuttered RV plant, but he doesn't usually see this much needing liquidation.
"The doors were shut fairly quick, so there are work-in-progress units and everything," Hahn said. "Normally the companies will use up as much as they can."
Hahn said he expects the auction to draw a mix of RV company representatives, RV owners and the public.
"There will be a lot of interest in all of it," he said.
Those interested can come in and view everything from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, March 24.
Thor has announced plans to occupy the building next and begin producing motorhomes sometime before July 31.
