Elkhart Plastics

SOUTH BEND — Karman Eash has joined Elkhart Plastics, Inc., as a controller. She’ll be responsible for providing financial and business management support to the company’s Middlebury manufacturing facility.

Eash has 23 years of experience as an operations manager and chief compliance officer. She earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Manchester College and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant.

1st Source Bank

SOUTH BEND — Noreen Kazi has been promoted to assistant vice president and portfolio manager for 1st Source Investment Advisors.

Kazi previously worked at 1st Source as a financial analyst and has eight years of experience with the company. She earned an MBA in finance and investments from Notre Dame and a B.S. in engineering from Purdue University.

Nautic Global Group

ELKHART — Judi Lykowski, Chad Reid and Jorge Silva have joined the marketing department of Nautic Global Group, Inc.

Lykowski will serve as a communications specialist. She has a bachelor’s in mass communication from Indiana University South Bend and more than 15 years of journalism experience. Lykwoski has been an on-air news reporter for several television stations across the Midwest, and she worked as a public relations specialist and TV broadcasting instructor for South Bend Community School Corp.

Reid will serve as an online marketing specialist. He has a bachelor’s in business administration marketing and a certificate in media development from Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Mich. He previously worked as an account coordinator for Labov Marketing in Fort Wayne.

Silva will serve as graphic designer and marketing coordinator. He has an associate degree in graphic design from the University of Aguascalientes in Mexico, along with a bachelor’s in organizational management and an MBA from Bethel College. Silva previously worked as a senior graphic designer at Crown Audio in Elkhart. He was also a lead designer at Burston Marketing in Elkhart, a supervisor at Delta Graphics in Mexico and a designer at Spanish Publications, Inc., in Houston.

Kruggel Lawton CPAs

SOUTH BEND/ELKHART — Three new staff accountants have joined Kruggel Lawton CPAs’ South Bend and Elkhart offices: Michele Reed, Mike Reed and Michelle Chupp.

Michele Reed will work in South Bend as a staff accountant focusing primarily on individual, corporate, estate and property tax work for clients. She received a bachelor’s in business from IU South Bend.

Mike Reed will work in South Bend as a staff accountant focusing primarily on audits, reviews and other assurance work along with corporate and individual tax compliance. He received a bachelor’s in business from IU South Bend.

Chupp will work in the Elkhart office as a staff accountant focusing primarily on individual, corporate, estate and property tax work for clients. She received a bachelor’s in accounting from IU South Bend.

Cressy & Everett Real Estate

ELKHART — Baana Veen and Jody Cook have joined Cressy & Everett Real Estate as Realtors.

Veen graduated with a bachelor’s in psychology from Manchester College and is treasurer of the Woodland Elementary School Parent Activity Council. He will work in the Elkhart office.

Cook is a member of the Indiana National Guard. He is a journeyman plumber and certified HVAC serviceman/installer with 15 years of experience. He will work in the Goshen office.

Indiana University School of Medicine–South Bend

SOUTH BEND — Carl F. Marfurt has been named interim director of the Indiana University School of Medicine-South Bend campus and interim associate dean at IU School of Medicine.

Marfurt is an associate director for research at IUSM-Northwest and a professor of anatomy and cell biology at the IU School of Medicine campuses in Gary and South Bend.

He received his doctorate in anatomy from Temple University School of Medicine in 1980 and served as a faculty member at Penn State Hershey Medical Center before joining IU in 1984.

Marfurt is recognized for his research on corneal nerves and has published 26 peer-reviewed articles and three book chapters on the subject.
