A large insurance brokerage firm has bought a smaller Elkhart-based competitor.

Cassady Neeser & Brasseur and Burt & Associates Benefit Planning are joining forces, they announced Tuesday, March 11.

Burt & Associates had consisted of two employees, benefits adviser Rick Labian and marketing manager Joyce Baughman. They will leave their office at 414 W. High St. and continue to serve their clients from Cassady Neeser & Brasseur's downtown Elkhart offices at 230 N. Main St., Suite. 3.

Labian will be vice president and Baughman will be client manager. The Burt & Associates name will no longer be used.

CNB is part of the Horton Group, with 300 employees in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. Its Indiana division president, Tom Cassady Jr., said his firm has long admired the entrepreneurial mindset and dedicated service" provided by Burt & Associates.

"As we have gotten to know their leadership on a personal level, we have discovered a shared business approach and culture that assures ... long-term success from this partnership," Cassady said.
