The Advocacy Committee of Area 2 Agency on Aging/REAL Services Inc. will host a public forum at 1 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Kroc Center, 900 W. Western Ave., to provide non-partisan information on the federal budget process and how it affects seniors and the community.

Marc Goldwein, senior policy director from the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, will discuss how past policies have led to the current budget, the impact of options being proposed and the dynamics at play in the budget process. Goldwein served in 2010 as associate director of the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform and in 2011 served as a senior budget analyst on the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction.

This is the advocacy committee’s fourth annual event designed to help seniors find non-partisan answers to public policy questions that affect their lives. The committee meets bi-monthly to study and discuss changes in public policy. New committee members are welcome.

The forum is free. To reserve a spot call REAL Services at 284-2644 or 800-552-7928.
