Shooting confirmed at Washington Gardens apartments in Elkhart

Police were called to the scene of a shooting at about 8 p.m. at Washington Gardens apartments on Sunday, July 13, according to Elkhart City Dispatch. 

A man was found with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound in the 300 block of West Indiana Avenue and taken to Elkhart General Hospital, according to Capt. Kris Seymore of the Elkhart Police Department.

Firefighters dueled flames for five hours at Elkhart plastics company

It took three departments to put out a large fire at TB Plastic Extrusions of Michiana on Saturday night. The Osolo Township, Cleveland Township and Bristol Fire Departments began fighting flames from a large trash dumpster and other materials at 54432 Adams Road around 10 p.m. The fire was contained to a 60-foot by 60-foot area in the parking lot of the business, and departments used an aerial crew to help put out the fire by 3 a.m. Building interiors weren’t affected and damage is minimal; the cause of the fire had not been determined as of 3 p.m. Sunday, July 13.

Elkhart County reported 45 arrests in last two weeks

The Elkhart Police Department, Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department and Goshen Police Department arrested 45 people from June 26 to July 11, 2014 for charges such as theft, public intoxication and battery.
