Motorcyclist injured in motorcycle and car crash east of Nappanee

Motorcyclist was taken to a hospital by MedFlight.

A motorcyclist was injured when his motorcycle collided with a car Saturday afternoon, May 24, east of Nappanee.

George J. Bommarito, 49, of Petoskey, Mich., was traveling east on U.S. 6 behind an SUV. Bommarito attempted to overtake the SUV as the car was turning right onto C.R. 11. The SUV then made an abrupt left turn and hit him. The accident occurred at approximately 3:27 p.m.

Bommarito suffered incapacitating head trauma in the collision and had to be taken to Memorial Hospital of South Bend by MedFlight.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department’s Crash Investigation Team is continuing to investigate the collision.
