Repairs to downtown Elkhart railroad crossing delayed to Friday morning

The railroad crossings on Main and Prairie streets will be closed on Friday morning, May 23, and reopened later in the afternoon.

ELKHART - Repairs to two downtown railroad crossings have been delayed to Friday morning, May 23.

The crossings on South Main and Prairie streets will be closed on Friday morning, May 23. The crossings will be reopened later in the afternoon.

Railroad crews will return at a later date to complete the repairs to the tracks, according to an e-mail from Elkhart right-of-way engineer Leslie Biek.

The best detour is the Benham Avenue underpass to the west of Main Street.
