Vandenack, Spalding of The Elkhart Truth honored by Local Media Association

Stories involving the recession, immigration and Valley View subdivision issues recognized by LMA.

ELKHART — Two Elkhart Truth writers earned honors from the Local Media Association editorial contest.

Tim Vandenack won three awards — a second place in Local Business/Economic Coverage for stories involving Elkhart County commissioner Terry Rodino and his business dealings with China, a second place in Best Feature Series on Elkhart County area immigration, and a third place in Best Feature Series for coverage on the local recession.

Dan Spalding was recognized with a second place in the Best In-Depth Reporting category for his story on Elkhart Mayor Dick Moore's public relation issues regarding the Valley View subdivision sewer debate.

The Elkhart Truth competed with other news organizations across the country in a category for daily papers of up to 25,000 in circulation.
