Federal funds available for traffic signal upgrades in Elkhart County, two cities

The county commissioners signed an agreement Monday, March 3, to apply for a federal grant.

GOSHEN — The Elkhart County Board of Commissioners has signed an interlocal agreement with two cities to apply for grant money to pay for traffic signal upgrades.

The Michiana Area Council of Governments, or MACOG, alerted the county, Goshen and Elkhart that $550,000 in federal funds is available for a highway safety improvement project for the current fiscal year with a contract on or before May 8. The commissioners signed an agreement with the two cities Monday, March 3, to seek funding for the design and installation of signal improvements through the Indiana Department of Transportation.
