Two sent to hospital after car crash in Elkhart

ELKHART – Two people were transported to the hospital after a car collision took place at the intersection of CR 19 and CR 26 around 12 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 1.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department reported that a Mitsubishi Outlander heading west on CR 26 driven by Haiam Shank, 41, continued into the intersection without stopping at the stop sign and collided with a Hyundai Sonata heading north on CR 19, driven by Jennifer Pletcher, 21.

Kaiden Pletcher, 3, was riding in the Sonata and was transported to IU Health Goshen with a non-life threatening laceration to the forehead. Shank was transported to the same hospital with neck and shoulder pain.

Traffic continued to move after the collision under the direction of Jefferson Township firefighters.
