MARION, Ind. – A plane crashed Saturday afternoon, Feb. 22, at the Marion Municipal Airport as its pilot was trying to land it, our news partners WNDU reported.

The pilot made a call to 911 around 1:33 p.m. Saturday asking for assistance. When emergency crews arrived at the airport, they found the plane laying flipped over near the runway. The pilot had managed to free himself, WNDU reported.

Though the pilot was taken to the hospital, his injuries were minor, and he is expected to be released soon.
