Saturday food drop aims to feed 8,000 area families

About 3,000 volunteers will meet at four locations to pack trucks with donated items.

GRANGER — About 3,000 volunteers will meet at four locations across Michiana this weekend to load trucks with food and supplies for area families.

The food drop event is coordinated by several area churches and organizations and will provide enough donations for 8,000 families, according to a press release.

At 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, about 3,000 volunteers will meet at one of four locations across Michiana to pack and load trucks with supplies.

Volunteer locations are:

Ÿ GCC’s Granger Campus at Granger Commons, 630 E. University Drive, Granger

Ÿ GCC’s Elkhart Campus, 2701 E. Bristol St., Elkhart

Ÿ GCC’s LaPorte Campus Offices, 800 S. Michigan Ave., LaPorte

Ÿ Waypoint Church, 56893 C.R. 29, Goshen

The donated items will be distributed at food banks throughout Elkhart, Mishawaka, South Bend, Middlebury and LaPorte.

The event has been coordinated through a partnership with Granger Community Church (GCC), IRBN Foods, Northern Indiana Food Bank, Feed the Children and Waypoint Church.

The food drop is part of GCC’s 2013 Christmas Offering campaign.
