ELKHART — With severe weather looming in the forecast, the Indiana Toll Road announced on Monday, Jan. 20, a ban of some types of large trucks from a portion of the roadway further west of Elkhart.

All triple-trailers, long-doubles, high-profile oversized loads and steel haulers will be temporarily banned.

The ban begins midnight Monday and continues until midnight Tuesday from exit 31 in Valparaiso to exit 72 on the west side of South Bend.

That portion of northern Indiana is expected to see heavy snowfall for much of Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The five were being held on various charges including attempted murder and armed robbery. It's unclear how the men, who are believed to be gang members, escaped from the jail. Authorities say all five men should be considered armed and dangerous. (AP Photo/Madera County Jail)
