MISHAWAKA — University Park Mall was packed Thursday evening when almost every store in the shopping center opened at 8 p.m.

Stores like Sears, Gap and the Apple Store had holiday doorbuster offers starting Thursday evening, in anticipation of those who started their shopping early before the traditional Black Friday.

Mike and Leslie Mack were done with dinner early and decided to go shopping Thursday night.

Walking briskly through the mall, shopping bags in hand, the couple said they had gone out shopping after Thanksgiving dinner before, but this year the mall looked more crowded than usual.

“It’s more like a Saturday or Sunday here,” Leslie Mack said.
