GOSHEN — A new director recently joined an after-school youth program in Goshen.

Nate West, executive director of programming, started as director at The Post this summer. Here’s what he had to say during an interview Thursday, Nov. 7.

What is The Post?

West: The mission of The Post is to give kids a safe place to hang out, and encourage them in a relationship with Christ. It’s just for middle school and high school kids. We are open from 4 to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday. We offer three major programs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays that are more structured. We want to talk about the Bible, but we make it into a game.

What made you want to work at The Post?

West: I had worked there before (as athletic director from 2010 to March 2013), and I had a relationship with pretty much all of the kids and most of the volunteers. My passion for working with youth, especially troubled youth, made me want to come back. Now I’m able to work during the day and spend more time with my family.

What would you like to do in your new position?

West: I don’t want to make major changes, I just want to get the word out about The Post. I don’t think a lot of people realize it exists, even though it’s right in downtown Goshen. I’m trying to meet with people in the community to promote The Post. Without the help of our community, we don’t exist.

Also new at The Post is Heathyr Harkless, director of development.

The Post is located at 301 East Lincoln Avenue in Goshen.
