GOSHEN — About midway through Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 5, things were going smoothly for the Goshen Schools special election.

“We’ve had very few problems today —it’s been a good election day,” Wendy Hudson, Elkhart County clerk, said in the early afternoon on Tuesday.

She added, “Early in the morning, we heard (from poll workers) that some of the precincts were getting a pretty steady stream of numbers.”

Registered voters living in precincts Elkhart 1 through Elkhart 21 may cast their vote until 6 p.m. Tuesday on whether additional property taxes should pay for Goshen Schools’ proposed renovation to the middle school and high school buildings. The total cost of the project is estimated to be $17 million, and if it’s approved, work on the buildings could start as early as August 2014, according to school officials.

If you’d like to vote and you’re not sure what precinct you live in, call Elkhart County voter’s hotline at 535-6469 or 534-5671; or go to www.indianavoters.com.
