GOSHEN — Goshen Police officer Nicholas McCloughen was promoted to detective Monday, Nov. 4, by the city board of works.

McCloughen, 29, has been with the police department for seven years. His wife and children were on hand for the ceremony during the afternoon meeting.

He replaces Jere Bigler, who is scheduled to retire in December, according to police chief Wade Branson.

The board also approved a request to purchase a property at 714 E. Lincoln Ave., for $25,000. The land will be used for storm sewer improvements. The storm water department paid for the acquisition.

The board of works will meet again at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, instead of Nov. 11 because of Veterans Day.
