NOTRE DAME — The view of the Golden Dome from Notre Dame Avenue is picturesque, and one that many enjoy capturing every year.
That’s why it’s fitting the Indiana Office of Tourism Development named the University of Notre Dame as one of the top 10 spots in Indiana to view fall foliage.
But visitors should plan quickly if they hope to see the colors. Peak fall foliage colors will start to appear this weekend in northern Indiana, said Sam Carman, education director at the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
“This season has been slow with unseasonably warm temps,” Carman said. “And with the rain, the leaves kept producing chlorophyll.” That means the leaves stayed green longer, Carman said.
The state tourism office also offered a list of nine other locations to visit in its Best of Indiana list.
