NAPPANEE — A special event will officially kick off phase one construction for a new Nappanee neighborhood.
Craftsman Village is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony and open house from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct 17 at the neighborhood’s main entrance located at S. Jackson St. and Newcomer St. In case of rain, the event will be at the Nappanee Chamber of Commerce, 302 W. Market St.
Following, representatives will be on hand to answer any questions and share the vision for Nappanee’s newest neighborhood.
Craftsman Village will offer various traditional neighborhood design (TND) elements like houses with front porches, wide sidewalks, narrow tree-lined streets, and shared spaces like a lake, community garden, and children’s playground.
Phase one will include construction of home lots one through eight, phase two will include an additional 14 home lots. The final phase is full development, at which the neighborhood will cover a total of 44 acres and will be the first National Association of Home Builders Green Certified Neighborhood in the area.
Coffee, hot apple cider, and light appetizers will be served. The event is open to the public. No RSVPs are required.
