Halloween 2013: Your guide to fall fun in Michiana

A list of local trick-or-treating and other Halloween 2013 and fall-related events.

ELKHART — It’s almost Halloween and that means it’s time for trick-or-treating, haunted houses and fall festivals.

Organizations and groups throughout Michiana are hosting several fall and Halloween-themed events throughout October. Whether you’re looking for something sweet or something spooky, there are several events to choose from.


Bristol: 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31

Cassopolis, Mich.: Halloween hours will be voted on Monday night, Oct. 14.

Edwardsburg, Mich.: 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31

Elkhart: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31

Goshen: 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31

LaGrange: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31

Middlebury: 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31

Nappanee: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31

Osceola: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31

Shipshewana: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31

Union, Mich./Porter Township: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31

Wakarusa: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31

The following groups have planned trick-or-treat activities:

Ÿ A free, safe trick-or-treat event for children 12 and younger will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Island Park in Elkhart.

Ÿ Woodland Manor Nursing and Rehabiliation is hosting an indoor Disney-themed trick-or-treat event from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31.

Ÿ Children are invited to Trick-or-Treat Main Street in downtown Goshen from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31.

Ÿ Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center is hosting a 5K Family Color Run followed by a Trunk-and-Treat event in its parking lot. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the race is at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. The race is $30 for an individual (adult or child) or $45 for a team of one adult and one child. Ÿ Studebaker National Museum is hosting a free Trunk-or-Treat bash for children ages 3 to 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, in the museum’s AM General Atrium.


Ÿ Niles Haunted House is open from 7 to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Nov. 2, 7 to 10 p.m. Sundays through Oct. 27 and from 7 to 10 p.m. Halloween night. Information: 269-445-9184

Ÿ Fear Itself Legend Park in Mishawaka is open from 7 to 11 p.m. Thursdays through Oct. 31 and also on Tuesday, Oct. 29, and Wednesday, Oct. 30. It is also open from 7 p.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays through Nov. 9. Prices range from $22.95 to $52.95. Information: 574-265-5656

Ÿ Hall of Heroes Super Hero Museum is turning into a Hall of Villains from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, and Saturday, Oct. 19. Admission is $5. Information: 574-522-1187

Ÿ Woodlawn Nature Center is offering guided tours of its haunted woods from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, Saturday, Oct. 26, and Thursday, Oct. 31. Other activities are also available. Prices vary. Information: 574-264-0525.


Ÿ Potawatomi Zoo is hosting its annual Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular for adults from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24. Tickets are on sale for $20. Information: 574-288-463

Ÿ The Humane Society of Elkhart County is hosting Woofoween for pets, their owners and all animal lovers from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at its Bristol location.

Ÿ Wings Etc. in Osceola is hosting a Zombie Ball, which includes a volleyball tournament, live music and more. The volleyball tournament begins at 2 p.m. and the party starts at 6 p.m. The event is child-friendly until 10 p.m. Prices vary. Information: 574-329-5777

Ÿ Brentwood at Elkhart Senior Living community is hosting a Monster Mash Halloween party for seniors at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29. Information: 574-262-1626.

Ÿ Ox Bow County Park is hosting a Halloween campfire and hayrides beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, and Wednesday, Oct. 30, in the Red Pines Campfire area. Admission is $2 for the campfire and $3 for the campfire and hayride combined.

Ÿ Nappanee Missionary Church is hosting The Freak Show, a family-friendly event that includes a comedian, a band, an illusionist, an evangelist and others from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and the event is free. Information: www.unlikeanyothershow.com.


Ÿ Hoosier Taekwondo in Middlebury is hosting its annual Harvest Party that will include a presentation on trick-or-treat safety at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25.


Ÿ Amazing Acres Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch in Edwardsburg, Mich., features hayrides, pumpkin patches, a cow train and several other activities. Hours vary. Admission ranges from $7 to $16. Information: 574-370-3403

Ÿ Knollbrook Farm in Goshen features a 10-acre corn maze, a farm animal petting area and more. Hours vary. Admission is $6 per person. Information: 574-831-3090

Ÿ Thistleberry Farm Corn Maze in South Bend features a “Wizard of Oz”-themed adventure maze, pony rides, a pumpkin patch and more. Admission ranges from $8 to $11. Information: 574-289-0164.
