ELKHART — The Lerner Theatre governing board approved a contract extension for the catering company that runs the Crystal Ballroom.

The contract with Matterhorn Conference Center was extended through March 2017.

The contract allows for automatic extensions of three-year periods after March 9, 2017.

The vote for approval was made Wednesday.

The board will now focus some of its attention on working to extend an agreement with Premier Arts, the resident theater company that works out of the Lerner Theatre and does a large amount of programming and educational services.

Officials hope to discuss the Premier Arts contract next month and finalize a new deal shortly afterward.

In this Aug. 13, 2014 photo, an overall view of the Firstkontact Center, a call center in the northern border city of Tijuana, Mexico. Many Mexicans deported under U.S. President Barack Obama are finding employment in call centers in Tijuana and other border cities. In perfect English, some don’t even speak Spanish, they talk to American consumers who buy gadgets and gizmos, have questions about warrantees and complain about overdue deliveries. A large number of workers spent nearly all their lives in the U.S. and still have family there, a major selling point for Mexico over English-language industry leaders like India and the Philippines.
