ELKHART — Another Republican plans to run for the Indiana House seat to be vacated by Tim Neese.

Jesse Bohannon announced Monday, Aug. 13, that he plans to run for the District 48 seat, which comes up for election next year.

In a press release, he said he has had “a lifetime passion to protect personal and economic liberty and has been a consistent voice for government accountability.” He currently works at The Crossing Education Center in Elkhart, serving as leadership coordinator and leading students in service learning projects.

“We are at a critical turning point. Local, state and federal governments all have important roles to play,” Bohannon said. “It is time for me to raise my level of commitment, and I am asking the people of the 48th District to join me.”

Bohannon, 34, is a lifelong area resident, lives in Cleveland Township and graduated from Bethel College. This is his first bid for office.

Neese, also a Republican, announced last week that he wouldn’t seek re-election to the Indiana General Assembly. Instead, he’s looking into a possible run for mayor of Elkhart. Adam Bujalski of Elkhart announced last week he planned to run for the District 48 seat, soon after Neese’s announcement.
