GOSHEN — Four properties with appraisals adding up to $455,000 will go on sale Monday, Aug. 5, through the Elkhart County Board of Commissioners.

Two of the properties are northeast of Elkhart and the other two are southwest of Goshen. The county bought the land for right-of-way as part of road improvement projects, including the extension of C.R. 17 and the reconstruction of the Six Span Bridge. The commissioners plan to sell the properties at their next meeting beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, in Room 104 at the Elkhart County Administration Building, 117 N. Second St.

The properties and their appraisals are:

Ÿ 22127 S.R. 119, Goshen: $80,000

Ÿ 22043 C.R. 38, Goshen: $65,000

Ÿ 22053 Sunset, Elkhart: $150,000, $100,000 each if split into two lots

Ÿ 21833 S.R. 120, Elkhart: $160,000

The county commissioners have the option of selling the properties to the highest bidder on the day of the sale as long as the offer is at least 90 percent of the appraisal. The commissioners can also extend the sale for 60 days if they want to give bidders more time to submit proposals. If none of the bids are at least 90 percent of the property values, the commissioners can re-advertise the sale, hire a Realtor or get the land reappraised. All bids will be open to the public.
