$SUBT_ON$Senior-Focused Life Enrichment Program comes to Tolson$SUBT_OFF$
ELKHART — The Senior-Focused Life Enrichment Program is coming to Tolson Center, 1320 Benham Ave., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays beginning Aug. 1.
Programming will include fellowship, education on community resources, free lunch, volunteer projects and games. There is no charge to attend, and anyone older than 55 can participate.
The program will also be offered at the same time Wednesdays at First Presbyterian Church, 200 E. Beardsley.
Run through the Council on Aging, the Life Enrichment Program looks to socially engage the aging populating and encourage them to participate in activities that allow them to grow as individuals. Service projects include gathering supplemental groceries for seniors in need, creating gift boxes for soldiers overseas, and creating holiday gifts for those at the mission and Women’s Crisis Center. Educational opportunities include financial security education and discussions on Medicare options and changes in Social Security. Activities are chosen by the participants, with an advisory panel at each location composing the calendar of events and choosing a theme and service project.
