Jimtown High School graduate Tonya Lynette Stout grew up performing at the Elkhart County 4-H Fair. Since then, she has shared the stage with stars such as Vince Gill, country duo Joey + Rory and Paramore’s Hayley Williams.
After working as a professional singer/songwriter in Nashville, Tenn., for 10 years, Stout has released her first singer/songwriter album, “A Seed.” Now, Stout returns with three other artists for a concert to benefit Faith Mission of Elkhart.
The concert, Nashville Comes to Town, will feature Stout, Erin Ashleigh, Paul Sikes and Dan Demay performing songs they have written that have been recorded by country artists including Darryl Worley, Martina McBride, Billy Dean, Tracey Lawrence and Joey + Rory.
The four will perform an acoustic show, similar in style to The Bluebird Café in Nashville, Tenn., from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at Crossroads North Campus, 3322 Middlebury St. Tickets are $10 and a nonperishable food item at the door, $5 and a nonperishable food item for children ages 10 and younger. There will also be drawings for meet-and-greet passes and tickets to see Florida Georgia Line, Vince Gill and Hunter Hayes at the fair, among several merchant packages.
This is not Stout’s first time giving back locally. She pledged 10 percent of the money from her CD sales to the Mirer Family Foundation, which has been helping children in Elkhart, Goshen and South Bend for 15 years. The foundation was founded by Goshen High School graduate and former NFL quarterback Rick Mirer and his wife, Jimtown graduate Stephanie Mirer.
Fans of Stout can also look for her at this year’s Elkhart County 4-H Fair on Tuesday, July 23, when she takes the stage in a 20-minute acoustic set before Vince Gill.
Stout’s album is available on iTunes, Amazon and other online distributors, and can be ordered directly from her website at www.tonyalynettestout.com.
