ELKHART — Elkhart and St. Joseph counties have announced Wednesday will be an air quality action day because of hot weather conditions.

Forecasted highs through Friday call for temperatures to reach into the low 90s in northern Indiana.

Weather conditions will be conducive to high levels of ozone pollution. The following actions will help lower motor vehicle emissions that contribute to the formation of ozone:

Ÿ Bike, walk, carpool or take the bus.

Ÿ Perform regular vehicle maintenance.

Ÿ Conserve fuel by combining trips.

Ÿ Refuel your car in the evening.

Ÿ Reduce engine idling time.
