Key action: Approved a final balancing change order for the Goshen College Trail project connecting the Millrace Trail to the Winona Trail. The change order reduced the project cost by $8,437.95 for a total contract of $61,414.64.

Other action:

Ÿ Granted the Historic Southside Neighborhood Association’s request to close the 500 block of South Seventh Street from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Aug. 10 for the neighborhood’s annual picnic.

Ÿ Granted Marty Neal’s request to close Franklin Street from the alley between Eight Street and Ninth Street to Ninth Street from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. July 20 for a block party and fundraiser.

Ÿ Denied the Traffic Commission’s recommendation to install a “No through traffic” sign on the east-west alley between 811 and 813 S. Seventh St.

Ÿ Announced the closing of S.R. 4 and Ninth Street railroad crossings, which will reopen on or before July 18, the Indiana Avenue railroad crossing, which will likely reopen Monday evening, July 8, and Blackport Drive from Monroe Street to Dykstra Street from Monday, July 15 through July 17 for road work.

Ÿ Authorized the Goshen Fire Department’s Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) with the collective fire, rescue and EMS response services in Elkhart County.

Ÿ Accepted an agreement with Custom Database Solutions to develop and install a customized maintenance software program to utilize data from the city’s SCADA system in order to develop an electronic preventative maintenance system for the city’s water treatment assets. The city will pay Custom Database Solutions an hourly rate of $105 for an amount not to exceed $24,150.

Ÿ Accepted an agreement with Signtech Sign Services for the repairs of three street lights on Park Avenue and five lights on Sunset Boulevard. The agreement is in the amount of $3,200.

Ÿ Accepted a change order to the Central Garage expansion project. The change order calls for the addition of various miscellaneous items that will increase the project cost by $23,656 for a total price of $770,839.70.
