Flash flood watch in effect until Wednesday evening

A line of severe thunderstorms Monday and Tuesday dropped a total of 0.33 inches of rain in Elkhart County, according to NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center

The NWS predicts thunderstorms to continue Wednesday, June 26, with some of the storms capable of producing heavy rain. Rainfall accumulating between a quarter and half of an inch may be possible.

Thursday may see a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m., according to the NWS.

The NWS issued a flash flood watch Tuesday morning in effect until Wednesday evening. Creeks and rivers may have the potential to swell without warning due to heavy rainfall.

In Elkhart, the NOAA reports that the St. Joseph River is at 19.27 feet as of 11 a.m. Flood conditions start at 24 feet.

In Goshen, the NOAA reports that the Elkhart River is 2.92 feet as of 9:45 a.m. Flood conditions start at 7 feet.
