ELKHART — Friends of drive-by shooting victim Braxton Barhams are planning a second candlelight vigil to support the 16-year-old’s family.
Mary Eggleston, whose son, Bailey, was friends with Barhams, is organizing a candlelight vigil for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, at Concord High School, 59117 Minuteman Way.
Barhams was a Concord student.
Friends, family and the community are invited to participate, Eggleston said. A pastor will be on hand to lead attendees in a prayer.
Eggleston said they will then march around the main parking lot.
A donation will be taken to benefit Barhams’s family and proceeds from the sale of “Stop the Violence” decals, suckers and bottled water will also go to the family.
“We just want to stop the violence,” Eggleston said.
Eggleston is also planning a car wash fundraiser for Saturday, July 6, and will have sign-up sheets available at the vigil.
Barhams was killed in a drive-by shooting on Saturday, June 22. A juvenile male suspect was arrested early Sunday morning but police have yet to confirm the suspect’s identity. The Elkhart County Prosecutor had not filed formal charges as of Tuesday evening.
Family, friends and neighbors gathered Sunday for a vigil to remember Barhams.
