ELKHART — Jimmy, the 10-month-old Labrador-shepherd mix which had been missing since Monday, June 17, is safe and sound.

Susie Terry, Jimmy’s foster owner, found Jimmy in a live trap Saturday morning set between Oak and Michigan street.

After a week without food and water, Terry said Jimmy was lured by the trap’s bait: pieces of chicken.

Jimmy is a rescue dog through the All 4 Animals rescue, where Terry volunteers. In April, Terry brought Jimmy home from Ohio, where he had been neglected by his previous owners. The neglect required him to have two toes removed through surgery.

The dog went missing last week when he escaped from Terry’s backyard. He had still been limping from his surgery.

Terry said she received many phone calls with potential sightings of Jimmy. The son of one of Terry’s friends spotted the dog.

“I’m very relieved and grateful,” Terry said.

Jimmy was found with injuries to his paw pads and armpits, Terry said. He is at a veterinarian this week to be evaluated.

Terry said she will keep Jimmy until he is ready for adoption. She currently owns a second foster dog through All 4 Animals.

Donations for Jimmy’s recovery can be donated to the Goshen Animal Clinic.
