Isolated storms with strong winds are possible in Elkhart County Friday evening.

ELKHART — Scattered thunderstorms are expected throughout northern Indiana Friday evening, June 21, according to the National Weather Service.

While widespread severe weather is not expected, isolated strong storms could bring wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour early in the evening, according to the hazardous weather outlook for Elkhart County.

A special weather statement was issued by the NWS Friday afternoon for several counties in northern Indiana, including LaPorte and St. Joseph counties, warning of a line of thunderstorms with strong winds and pea-sized hail.

No statements or warnings have been issued for Elkhart County.
